About Stuart Disney

After qualifying at the PGA Training Academy, Bisham Abbey in 1993, Stuart pursued his boyhood dreams of golfing superstardom.

Buoyed by the generosity of his then club, Teignmouth, Stuart managed to secure some starts on the PGA European Challenge Tour. Along with a season of events on the West Region PGA Tour, Stuart focused his attention on competing.

With this followed numerous pro-am victories and experience of competing all over the world. After a year of traveling, disaster struck in the form of back injury that stopped his playing career in its track. Not to be put off by this setback, Stuart focused his attention on establishing and developing his teaching and coaching.

After gaining experience in various coaching positions and head professional roles, Stuart is now the Head Professional at Fingle Glen Golf Club in November 2016. With its amazing coaching and training facilities, Fingle Glen is the ideal place to learn and improve your golf.

Not content with all he had achieved to date Stuart set himself the challenge to become the first British based professional to achieve the Advanced Diploma. Having signed up for the PGA's Advanced Diploma in Golf Studies, Stuart spent five years updating and improving his knowledge of the game and was duly granted Advanced Professional Status with the Advanced Diploma.

Stuart has since continued with his Professional Development and has now been awarded ‘PGA Fellow Professional’ status in recognition of all the work he has done as a PGA Professional. He has also won the prestigious Devon Sports Awards ‘Contribution to Inclusive Sport’ award as his believe is that golf is for all, no matter our background.

Having worked with many clients over the years, Stuart has shown that he can help to improve golfers of all abilities. From the newcomer through to the professional player, the list of clients keeps growing. His passion for helping out the younger generation is well documented with appearances on ITV's Westcountry Programme and has coached Devon County Junior players.

Stuart continues to work hard to create links to schools; clients from all walks of life; businesses and clubs to get people playing golf. His desire to help you improve your golf is something to be experienced. Stuart’s down to earth approach to teaching, very reasonable lesson rates and welcoming nature has him teaching clients from clubs as far away as Bristol.

“I have been having lessons with Stuart for over 10 years now. I started with a 26 handicap and with little knowledge of what to do to improve. Stuart’s approach of starting at the green and working back to the teeing ground proofed really useful. My chipping and putting improved and as a result I am more confident of getting the ball up and down when I miss the green. My handciap has come steadily down and I am now a confident 12 handicap player. Stuart’s approach is both friendly and fun to work with as he never changed too much about my swing. The only changes made were those that needed it. Thank you, Stuart, for your kind encouraging words and your endless patience. Without you, I would not be playing golf. Chris, 55.”

“Stuart has an unbelievably simple approach to the game. Every stage is explained so clearly that you cannot help but want to learn. None of this mumbo-jumbo that you read and hear about so often on the internet or in books. Straight to the point and with simple language, I put my improvement solely down to Stuart’s approach. Andy, 48.”

“I won my first Club Championship 20 years ago. I have been a single figure player for the past 30 years and in the past 5 years, my game has gone from bad to worse. I took lessons everywhere in the hope of finally getting my hands on the Club Championship trophy again. I booked myself 3 lessons in Stuart’s Studio, and within the first 20 minutes I had the ‘Light Bulb’ moment….you know, when suddenly, you truly understand what it’s all about. I now hit my favoured ‘fade shot’ with control and my distance has improved….not because I hit a fade, but because I strike the ball the same each time. And the icing on the cake came with me winning the Club Championship again after a 20-year gap. Thank you Stuart, you are a star! Richard, 56.”

“I have only recently taken up golf and I can honestly say that Stuart’s approach of starting at the green and working back is brilliant! I learnt how to get the ball in the hole first and this is completely different to my friends who went to another golf pro. My progress has been so quick and I am now playing golf on the course after just 6 lessons. I love Stuart’s driving range and the practice facilities and I am regularly at the club practising. Thank you Stuart. Carol, 46.”
